We are LAVIN, a family-run wine merchant specialising in exporting exceptional French wines to the Netherlands. Our name tells our story: LAVIN is a combination of our surname, Laning, and the French word vin, which means “wine”. It symbolises our personal approach and our passion for wine.

Part of our range is dedicated to organic wines, a category that is becoming increasingly popular among wine lovers. These wines are made without chemical pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or synthetic additives, which is not only better for nature but also contributes to pure, authentic flavors in the glass.

We carefully select our organic wines from winegrowers who value sustainability and are committed to healthy vineyards and balanced soil. This dedication to natural processes results in wines with character, in which the terroir comes into its own.

Who is behind LAVIN?

My name is Peter Laning, I was born in Zwolle, and I have been living in France for a long time now. My love of good wine and artisanal products led me to set up my own wine business, specialising in exceptional cuvées from mostly small, independent winemakers (vignerons indépendants).

My passion for wine has grown through practical experience: I have worked with various winegrowers in France, Argentina and Chile. There, I was able to see up close what it takes to make really good wine, from grape to bottle. To further deepen my knowledge, I also obtained the WSET 2 diploma at the AIVA (Académie Internationale des Vins en Alsace).

I don't sell standard wines, but characterful bottles with a story. I love to share my passion through tastings, collaborations or simply a good conversation about wine.

Cosecha in Argentina

In Argentina, I worked for a grape farmer in the province of San Juan, two hours north of Mendoza. There, I learned the basics of vineyard work: pruning, irrigating, recognising healthy vines and determining the right time to harvest.

Vendimia in Chile

In Chile, I worked for an artisan winegrower in the Central Valley, in Cauquenes. As in Argentina, I assisted in the vineyards, but here I was also involved in the winemaking process: from vinification to bottling and other tasks in the cellar.

Vendanges in France

In France, I took part in the vendanges and worked in the cellar on various stages of the vinification process. I also visit winegrowers every week, which gives me the opportunity to continuously learn from their experience, craftsmanship and diverse working methods.

Own Transport, Storage and Customs

Personal care and value for winegrowers

At LAVIN, we do everything ourselves to ensure that our wines arrive safely at our customers in the Netherlands. Every month, we personally drive from France to the Netherlands with our selection of exclusive wines. Because we arrange the transport ourselves, we can ensure that the wines are transported and stored safely and under the right conditions.

We also take care of all customs formalities. Many independent winegrowers do not export themselves because of the complex procedures and costs involved. We take care of this entirely, giving them access to the Dutch market and allowing our customers to discover exclusive wines.

In order to handle the volumes as a family business, we sometimes work with national delivery companies in the Netherlands. We bring the wines to the Netherlands, after which a local delivery company takes care of the delivery to the customer. This allows us to remain flexible and serve our customers quickly and reliably.
