A great Saint-Joseph Syrah from old vines at Domaine Vallet: a deep and structured wine with a balance of power and freshness, ideal for aging.
This Saint-Joseph has a dark color with purplish reflections. The nose reveals deep aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and violets. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and long, with a dense and structured texture supported by present but well-integrated tannins. The power is quite high, resulting in a more serious and concentrated wine than a classic Saint-Joseph, with a structure close to the top cuvées of the appellation. The acidity is average and provides real freshness without sharpness.
Body: powerful
Tannins: moderate tannins
Sweetness: dry
Acidity: medium acidity
Food pairing: pairs perfectly with hare, wild boar or red meat, as well as stews (such as boeuf bourguignon) and strong cheeses.
