Costières de Nîmes "Les Cimels" rouge 2024

A delightful wine from the Costières de Nîmes region by Château d'Or et de Gueules: a sunny, full-bodied, and silky-smooth red wine, in which the fruit comes through elegantly.

This red cuvée, “Les Cimels,” a blend of Syrah (60%), Carignan (20%), and Grenache (20%), boasts a brilliant purple color. The nose is particularly expressive, characterized by notes of violets and licorice, accompanied by lush fruit. On the palate, the wine is fresh, round, and full-bodied, with a lovely flavor and remarkably fine, silky-smooth tannins. It is approachable while retaining a beautiful structure. It can be enjoyed now and will develop harmoniously for about 5 years.

The estate

Château d'Or et de Gueules is located in the heart of the Costières de Nîmes vineyards in southern France and is known for its commitment to the environment and its respectful approach to viticulture. The estate prioritizes sustainable agriculture: soil cultivation to limit the use of herbicides, natural organic fertilizers, the use of wooden stakes, and a reduction in the use of plastic in agriculture. The estate is also energy-independent thanks to solar power and is part of a comprehensive approach to maintaining the balance between the vineyard, the terroir, and the environment. This philosophy translates into authentic, flavorful wines that remain true to the expression of the Mediterranean terroir.

  • The grapes are harvested by hand and then destemmed, after which they remain in the fermentation vat for approximately 28 days, during which time they are regularly racked and pumped over to develop color and structure. The Carignan is vinified using carbonic maceration to enhance the wine’s fruity expression and suppleness.

The wine is then aged for 18 months in barrels, which softens the tannins and preserves the aromatic purity of the fruit.
