Domaine des Girasols, located in the Rasteau appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, is a family-run estate founded in 1974 and now managed by the second generation. The vineyard lies on sun-drenched hillsides facing the Dentelles de Montmirail, where the Mediterranean climate and the mistral ensure optimal grape ripening.
Vinificatie
The estate stands out for its work with very old vines, including century-old Grenache, which produce low yields but great concentration. Certified organic since 2023, the domaine follows a philosophy focused on respect for nature and terroir.
The wines are typical of Rasteau: powerful, rich and structured, while maintaining freshness and balance. Cuvées such as Arbre de Vie and Vieilles Vignes show dark fruit, spice and ripe tannins, with excellent ageing potential.
AOC Rasteau
Rasteau is a well-regarded appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, known for its powerful and concentrated red wines, mainly based on Grenache. Thanks to its warm, sunny climate and stony soils, the wines develop structure, richness and spicy complexity. Rasteau is often compared to nearby Gigondas, while generally offering excellent value for money.
